Winter Farmers’ Market

  • OPEN Saturday, March 14, 10:00 AM 1:00 PM

    Dear Friends -

We at Grow Oak Ridge believe that local food is safe food. The Winter Farmers' Market will be OPEN on Saturday, March 14, regular hours, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

However, I thought this would be a good time to talk about safety efforts at the market. We are watching the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely, talking to officials at the Anderson County Health Department, and consulting the TN Dept. of Health website. There are no cases of the virus in Anderson County as of this afternoon.

Our market vendors rely financially on Saturdays, especially our growers. We will sanitize surfaces throughout the market Saturday mornings, and of course we always follow USDA and TN Dept. of Agriculture rules for food safety at farmers' markets.

However, if you are coughing or have a fever, or have a weakened immune system, please stay home for the safety of yourself and others. If we do have to cancel a market in the next few weeks, we will send out an email, post it on social media and our website, and send a text about it (text GROWOR to 313131 if you want those).

Meanwhile, for the next three weeks, our food tasting program is optional for children at the market. All kids 12 and younger may earn $2 in tokens to spend in the market just by participating in the games and activities of the Power of Produce (POP) Club. Whether they taste vegetables is up to them and their parents.

Vendors coming this week include Zavels Family Farms, Possum Bottom Farms, VG's Bakery Sassy Pants Sweets & Treats, Cooks on the Curb, Wilson Family Farm, Enlightenment Acres, Spring Oak Farm, Blue Flamingo Farm, Eco-Rich Farms, Refill Coffee Cart and many more not on Facebook. Thank you.
