Friday 2/11
St. Mary’s Growers:
We gathered some bamboo last Monday! The shredder is all fixed. On Monday ~5p we can start shredding ground trimmings from last Fall. We can turn compost. We can start adding some trellis poles.
We do not have any other work days planned this week. If you want to work at another time, feel free to stop by the shed. There you can see a to-do list in the notebook. Please text Jason for the shed combination: 466-6193. Thanks for your help.
Tom Thornton, Walter Dykas, and George Hine helped gather and handle the bamboo. We offer special thanks to Pedro Souto for allowing us onto his property to gather bamboo and Fred Wetzel for helping us find Pedro.
Crop Rotation
We try to plan our 6 main beds to be in a 3 year rotation. We post the rotation in the garden shed door with the diagram below labeled with the crops that will be in main summer season beds. This file goes to our crop rotation plan: St. Mary's 6 bed crop rotation
Visit to UT Compost
We recently organized a trip to the UT Compost facility to see what an industrial scale compost facility look like. Here’s my report: UT Compost Facility Visit
